I purchased these to keep my food fresh and they do just that! We took a road trip and I packed some apple slices to munch on in the car. I forgot about them overnight and they were still fresh in the morning. They had not turned brown and mushy. In fact, I have some banana slices in one of the bags in the freezer for smoothies. The bananas look as good as they did when I put them in the bag. I definitely recommend these bags.
These work surprisingly well, and the little sliding plastic bar that closes it fits tightly. I frankly forget that I have the darn things because of where I store them, but they're great for transporting things to work for lunch and you can microwave safely in them. The first few times you use them, the slider bar is tight (which is better than loose and dribbling stuff all over your lunch bag) but it gets easier over time, although still seals well. They are also handy for storing produce like half a cut onion or pepper. They wash easily in the dishwasher, too. If you're trying to reduce your use of plastic, this is a good way to cut down.
I've been eyeing reusable bags for a while in my effort to cut down on single-use-plastics and finally got these. These are a fantastic design! They're thick and durable. They're easy to open and close, and I just stick them in the dishwasher at the end of the day and they wash right up. It's just as easy as ziplocs except you're getting more for your money and being kinder to the earth. We use them for packed lunches (they're larger than most sandwiches and would even fit a nice sub sandwich) most but even sometimes just as tupperware for leftovers, and they're convenient for all of it.
I bring lunches to work every day to cut down on cost as well as to be healthy. I hated how wasteful ziploc bags were so I got these. I added pictures to show how great they work, they even keep liquids in! I added water to the bag and turned it completely upside down and not a drop fell.
I love these bags! They are food-grade silicone, which is non-reactive and can be used at a wide range of temperatures.
The seal is leak-proof (see photo!) and can be a little tough to close the first couple times - as is noted in the product description - just be sure you have the arrows lined up and I guarantee it will slide shut :)
I like that they're different colors in case you want to always use the red for meat, green for veggies, etc. So far I've been using them to store fruits and veggies, but plan on trying them out for cooking (sous vide and also boil-in-bag omelettes for camping) soon
Fabulous. I plan to give these as gifts next year and get more, as I used the entire batch after one shopping trip - I buy meats in bulk and split up when at home. These are perfect, I want more, will get more as time and funds permit.
thick bags. I packed lunch for my son's soccer game. it worked well. it didnt leak at all. will order more in the future.
These are my first purchase of a silicone Food Bag. I'm very impressed. We've used them several times already and they clean so easily. I'm definitely striving to be more green and this will help reduce some of my plastic bag use.
They are approximately the size of a quart plastic bag. Next time I buy I'd like to get something more the size of a gallon.
i dig these! great idea and super practical. they are a bit on the bigger side, so i had a tiny bit of trouble fitting them into my lunchbag for work, but thats really a minor issue.
I got these bags because my youngest starts school this year. They are awesome! She’s able to get them open and closed. They’ve held up well to use. I like the different colors. I’m going to order more so I can have a variety of sizes!
I love these! Great for freezing things and for traveling with. They are kind of squishy and bulky, so i like putting more delicate things in them to travel with. I also sometimes use them to freeze water in to use as icepacks for coolers - works great as they don't leak and you can drink the water when they melt!
I use these as freezer bags and they work great. I haven't had much freezer burn using them and they're fairly easy to clean. Getting the plastic seal on and off can maybe be a little challenging, but nothing crazy. You get the hang of it.
I am so happy with these. I've only used them for a few days now but I am already impressed. I've put liquid foods in them and really, they do not leak. They wash up nice, store easily and I like the different colors to find what I'm looking for in the fridge quickly. I'll add to my review after I've used them a few months but they are silicone, so I expect them to wear nicely.
Product does not disappoint. At first the bags take a wee bit of work to open and separate the inside walls from sticking together. Very easy too wash. After the first wash they were easier to use and easier to slip on the plastic sealer. Very durable. I love them. No more plastic zip locks. Saves money but most of all help in saving the environment. I have a feeling they will last a very long time. I will be giving these out as bday gifts/housewarming gifts/stocking stuffers/channukah gifts...!
What a great product! I love being able to cook food in this bag and just leave the leftovers in it and straight to the fridge. Feel so much safer than the steam able plastic bags veggies come in. And for food storage in general. I especially like the bottom of this bag designed so it can stand on its own while you fill it.
3 out of four worked well. One did leak but will give the benefit of doubt that I did not seal properly so I am still unsure if I really love this product after 2 weeks camping but I am leaning toward highly recommending it for campers who want to store cheeses, lunch meats etc in a cooler full of water and ice. Yes, the slider is difficult to use at first but a small amount of olive oil did the trick and it slid easily after that. Sorry, wont be able to update until 2018 after trying again for camping! I think it will work well though.
We've used them for left over grilled meats for some reason, and to clean we used hot water and a little dish soap, sealed it up and swooshed around inside, then rinsed. I didn't notice any water leaking while cleaning.
The only con is the cost, and they are a little tricky to open and close. They seem sturdy, hopefully they will pay for themselves.
great for meal prep and long term food storage. I try to be eco friendly and realized how many bags I kept tossing so bought these. The sealing device on the top can be a bit tough to put on and take off, but it isn't that bad and wasn't enough for me to take a star off. No odd smells or anything with them either
I really love this product!
They are of safe material that can store food or even liquids.
It won’t leak as the sliders are very tight and it is easy to slide. The best thing about it is that it is reusable, unlike the plastic ziploc bags you buy from the store.
You don’t have to keep on purchasing the plastic bags and you are saving the earth with this simple but functional food preservation bag!
These are a good idea as they allow you to pour hot liquids into them but don't get has hot as a glass jar or seal as tightly as a cooled jar. The sealing process was difficult at first but just run the clasp bar under water and it slides on easily wet. Don't use oil as oil is difficult to clean off and over time it solidifies in a gooey mess. They also look interesting. I really like the colors and better than jars they store flat.
When I first opened these and got ready to wash them before use, all the sides were stuck together. I assumed that was normal and started peeling them apart. On the very first bag, the bottom tore, because it took so much force to pull the surfaces apart. It almost felt like they were glued. Fortunately, the tear wasn't in a spot that would compromise anything inside the bag, so I was a bit more careful with the rest and everything was fine. The tear hasn't spread or gotten worse either, which makes me assume it will hold up for a bit.
As for opening and closing them, they can be a little frustrating, but if you're having too much trouble, you're probably trying to hard. If you try to yank them apart, it won't work. Have some patience, pull horizontally, and keep in mind that this is a rubbery material against smooth plastic, there will be a ton of friction to work against.
When it comes to washing them, I don't really have any trouble. Soap, sponge, hot water, and hang them to dry. Easy as that.
